Welcome to Otaku Journalist

Otaku (o • ta • ku) : a fan.
Journalist : a teller of true stories.

Otaku Journalist is the personal blog of Lauren Rae Orsini, a Northern Virginia journalist and anime fan. I use this blog to record all the parts of fandom and geekdom that fascinate me the most, as well as snippets from my daily life. Here, you’ll find both deep thoughts and fluffy photo posts.

This blog is written for people who consider themselves otaku as well as for people who are wondering what the hell that means. It is a recording of every type of fandom I can manage to find out enough about to write about. It is a hate-free zone where unique interests are celebrated instead of judged.

Some of Otaku Journalist’s most popular articles include: What’s the appeal of cat ears?, 10 things every otaku should do in 2011, My life as a Kotaku intern, and How to start a career in anime journalism.

First time to the site? You can browse the archives to get started. Been here before? Go to the home page or browse with the random tool (look to the left).
