- Remember Creamsicle, a pairing created from a viral Tumblr meme that asserted that some girls are better than others? There’s another, anime fandom-specific one. Above, meet my new OTP.
- Star Wars drawn in an ornate, baroque style. Balloonist Boba Fett is the best one.
- The Tangles explains why you need to get on the Chihayafuru train, like, stat.
- Patches is giving a version of our Sexism and Anime panel at Anime Boston 2013 and you should go. I totally would be there, but I have to get married! I know, lame.
- A brief, incomplete, and mostly wrong history of programming languages. This is fantastic. I’ll start you off with the beginning:
1801 – Joseph Marie Jacquard uses punch cards to instruct a loom to weave “hello, world” into a tapestry. Redditers of the time are not impressed due to the lack of tail call recursion, concurrency, or proper capitalization.
- For my most optimistic readers: http://islittlewitchacademiaananime.tumblr.com/
- A rare feel-good story about feminism and the gaming industry: how a gender-swapped pinup taught everyone a lesson about sexism.
- Finally, you might already be aware that I’m working for Otaku USA Magazine right now on a cosplay-specific issue set to go out this summer. Want to be a part of it? We’re looking for submissions now.

What if the otaku is ACTUALLY Japanese? :P We do have those folks here in the U.S. I know a few of them.
The untrue history of programming was great! I really loved the part about Perl.
Hmmm… And now I’m sitting here asking myself if Is Little Witch Academia an anime yet? *sigh*
So basically completely culturally appropriate and exotify Japan rather than just liking anime. Got it! Be the ULTIMATE otaku.
No really it’s OK to like anime and not really like Japan, not have an interest in the language or culture. However if you are watching anime it’s good to RESPECT the language and culture.
Also getting married is JUST LIKE being a disabled person!
Sorry you’re offended, Mav. Is “lame” an ableist word now and I wasn’t aware?
